June 19, 2012 – Richard and Tracey Visit
Richard and Tracey arrived at Southhamptom following their cruise. We blitzed them off to Stonehenge and Blenhiem Palace on their first day. Then we spent two days walking all around London and visiting a number of it's main attractions including Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Whitehall (past #10 Downing Street and other government buildings) to Trafalgar Square, St James Park, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, St Paul's Cathedral, the British Museum, and Covent Garden. It was a wonderful visit. Roger delighted in getting to know Richard and Tracey so much better.  More.

May 28,2012 - Mom and Dad Visit. Roger escorted them around East Anglia for the first few days. On Friday (June 1) Lorna met us in Cambridge for dinner at the Eagle Pub and punting on the Cam River.  The rest of the weekend we enjoyed a visit to Catholic Shrine at Walsingham and the Queen's Estate in Sandringham. On Monday (June 4) we flew to The Netherlands to spend two days at Floriade. We also spent a day at The Hague. Over 100 masterpieces from the Mauritshuis museum including Vermeer’s ‘Girl With A Pearl Earring’ and Rembrandt’s “The Anatomy Lesson” were temporarily on display at the Gemeentemuseum while the Mauritshuis is undergoing expansion and renovation. So, we were able to see the best collections of both museums in one setting before they go on tour next year. We also took time to visit some windmills. During our last day we visited the Cathedral and other parts of the medieval city s-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch). Finally, we enjoyed a couple of days in London. Highlights included time at the Greenwich Observatory as well as taking in the breathtaking jewelry and other exhibits at the Victoria and Albert museum. Too soon we had to drop them off at Heathrow for their return flight home.  More...
