A quick photo tour beginning from our home known locally as ‘Riveracres’ on Coulson Lane. Coulson Lane was once a cart road and is still bordered by a horse pasture and small orchard. Our long private drive is bordered on the right by an elevated garden paralleling an ancient walled path that leads to High Street. Exiting this path we are quickly in the middle of a busy town center with Portuguese and Polish specialty stores, a Kebab house, Fish and Chips and other ethnic 'take-outs' and shops. High street leads up to a small market square which fills with vendors 2-3 days each week. The square includes a fresh vegetable market, bakery and other businesses. Nearby, we also enjoy a convenient butcher shop, bank, and the Flintknapper’s Pub. Leading North one passes an excellent small brewery before the bridge over the Little Ouse River. The Little Ouse and nearby Thetford forest serve as recreational areas and tourism sustain several local inns and restaurants. Just across the river is the Brandon railroad station as well as our St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic parish church. Click here for a brief history of Brandon.
